Truth: there are so many different kinds of serviced apartments in London that it can be hard to know where to even start. I would know, as I experienced a few of them; all I can say is that all are not created equal.
With Skyline, though, I had no issues or disappointments whatsoever. Here’s a review of my experience with their service.
Serviced Apartments in London – Skyline
I was pleasantly surprised to find that my flat was in a brand new skyscraper in Canary Wharf, which meant I wouldn’t have to worry about dated appliances or furniture. The flat still had that “brand new” smell to it, which I loved!
Having been so recently built, the serviced apartment was also incredibly well designed, with an all-marble bathroom (yes, you read that right), a spacious and contemporary kitchen, as well as sparse but tasteful decorative elements throughout. The bedroom even featured two massive closets and its own sliding door to the balcony, from where I enjoyed my morning coffee (courtesy of the coffee maker in the kitchen) on a daily basis during my stay.
In terms of amenities, the apartment was fully equipped with free, fast, private WiFi, a washer/dryer unit, the usual dishwasher/oven/fridge trio in the kitchen, a massive TV set with a variety of British and international channels, and delightful toiletries in the bathroom. I was also treated to a personalised meet & greet upon arrival where I was explained everything I needed to know about the property and the seamless check-out process.
Serviced Apartments in Canary Wharf
I was booked in a roomy apartment in Canary Wharf, about a 10-minute DLR ride from the City of London. This location is very popular with those visiting London on business, moreso than tourists; but the truth is, I kind of appreciated the peace and quiet of being slightly away from the hustle of, say, Soho or Kensington. Considering I could never afford to live in either of these locations, I truly felt like I was coming home every night. Moreover, picking a serviced apartment in London that’s every so slightly away from the core centre of the city is a great option for visitors with a limited budget.
The apartment was in one of the many shiny, new towers over at Blackwall DLR station, which itself was a 7-minute step-free (important when you have luggage!) walk away.
The only downside is that there are very few commodities in the immediate vicinity, such as shops and restaurants; the closest ones being either at Canary Wharf or on Poplar High Street 15 minutes away. That dit not, however, shed a negative light my stay in any way as I was busy exploring central London for my guidebook.
All in all, I had a wonderful experience with Skyline, an irreproachable provider of serviced apartments in London and elsewhere in the world, too. I would not hesitate to recommend them and even book them again for another apartment in Europe.
