Copenhagen, like most other Nordic cities, isn’t cheap. So when you find a hotel that’s reasonably priced, well-located, and that offers a wide range of amenities along with a stunning Danish design, you really don’t think twice about it. In fact, you book as quick as you can before it sells out!

I stayed at Scandic Front Hotel for four nights and sincerely enjoyed my stay, on a variety of aspects.

Scandic Front Hotel: My Room

My designated room was spacious, moody, and very comfortable. There was ample storage for my suitcase (and that of my friend), soft beds and ample natural light. I liked that the bed was actually made out of two single beds; as I was travelling with a friend (and not a special friend, wink wink), we were able to simply pull the beds apart and each have our own space. Magic!

The one major downside of the hotel, I would say, is that the power goes off when you turn off the main light switch – meaning that your devices won’t charge while you’re asleep unless you have superpowers that allow you to sleep with the lights on. As a blogger and millennial, it made it difficult for me to venture out with fully charged devices. The last thing you want when you’re in a city as beautiful as Copenhagen is to have your phone run out of battery!

One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to hotels is when they use travel-sized toiletries. This is such a wasteful, nonsense habit! I would much rather use these refillable and eco-friendly bottles (especially if they are filled with FACE Stockholm products!) like those at Scandic Front.

Also, the view from my bed did not suck. Sure, the canal is undergoing extensive works at the moment but hey, I still got the view of the wonderful Copenhagen Opera House. I really can’t complain about that, now can I?

Scandic Front Hotel: The Hotel

The hotel is rather sober throughout – it is a Nordic brand, after all – with a few eclectic accents of colour, which I thought were very tasteful.

In terms of amenities and facilities, the hotel is equipped with a small shop by the reception where you can buy snacks and drinks, as well as travel essentials should you have forgotten yours. There is also a welcoming and relaxing lounge area, a bike rental service, a gym, a sauna, and an 80-seat restaurant bar open for both breakfast and dinner.

Speaking of which – kudos to the buffet breakfast! It was just big enough to please every palate but not overwhelming, I-gotta-wear-looser-pants kind of big. Also, danishes. When in Rome, right?

All in all, I would say that the RThey do need to look into that main switch electrical problem – this is 2015, everyone needs to charge things – but it was an otherwise flawless stay. I would gladly stay there again during my next visit!

Scandic Front Hotel: The Location & Neighbourhood Guide

The hotel is close to public transportation and also within walking/biking distance to all the main sights, and the beautiful waterfront. Like, literally 200 meters from the iconic Nyhavn! Overall, an excellent base to explore Copenhagen for the first or the hundredth time.
